Bike Trails - Long Island - Coach Realtors

One great way to enjoy the outdoors around Long Island is to seek out the local bike trails. Our REALTORS® have several great suggestions for enjoying the amenities in our area, which are a real asset to the Long Island lifestyle.

Here are six unique bike trails, located close to some of our Nassau County or Suffolk County homes for sale. Please note social distancing and mask requirements before biking the trails.

  1. Heckscher State Park- Heckscher Parkway Field 1, East Islip, NY 11730
Cycle the 4.5-mile flat trail for a panoramic view of Great South Bay. Watch for the nests of ospreys, a sea hawk, that tower over the park campground, and over the trail near Field 7. This 1600-acre former 19th-century estate also shelters white-tail deer and a variety of other birds. The park, originally opposed by local residents, represented public official Robert Moses's toughest fight to ensure the availability of public lands on Long Island. East Islip homes for sale are conveniently located near the trail and other amenities of Heckscher.

Doughnut Shops - Long Island - Coach Realtors

The first Friday in June means one thing – it's time to eat the doughnuts! Believe it or not, National Doughnut Day has important historical significance. The Salvation Army Lassies served doughnuts to our troops on the front lines in Europe during WWI. The doughnuts were actually cooked inside of the troops' helmets, giving these infantrymen the nickname of "doughboys." Today, we celebrate their commitment to feeding our country's soldiers by enjoying these delicious baked goods.

National Doughnut Day falls on Friday, June 5th, this year and our REALTORS® are ready to dive into a box of delicious doughnuts. Whether you spell it "doughnut" or "donut", you do not want to miss out on tasty treats from these Long Island bakeries.

Family Time Capsule - Coach Realtors

Has your family run out of words for Scrabble? Maybe you've binged everything in your Netflix queue. Our REALTORS® understand the difficulty of finding new and entertaining ways to pass the time at your home on Long Island.

Creating a time capsule is an absorbing and rewarding activity that pays dividends now and later. Use these helpful suggestions to start a creative project involving the whole family.

  1. Make It Personal
Traditional time capsules tend to focus on historical context, with documents and artifacts that objectively depict events of the time. While such items can certainly be part of your time capsule, the primary purpose is to relate each family member's personal experience during the COVID-19 quarantine.
